Original Stars Shine on Oldest City

Fort Menendez in Saint Augustine, FL

For decades, the young and young-at-heart alike have fallen in love with songs like Only You, The Great Pretender, Poison Ivy, My Girl, Under the Boardwalk, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, and more.

And now, for the first time ever, you and your family can join us at Fort Menendez at Old Florida Museum for a night of music and fun.

The Platters, Coasters, Drifters and Temptations Salute is now a permanent attraction in St. Augustine, Florida, at Fort Menendez at Old Florida Museum, 259 San Marco Avenue at State Road 16.

This engaging show stars Myles Savage, Star Lead Singer from the Platters, and Ira Greig, Star Lead Singer from The Former Beary Hobb’s Drifters. Savage and Greig will be performing The Platters, Coasters, Drifters and Temptations Salute at Fort Menendez at Old Florida Museum every Saturday evening at 7:00 pm.  Additional show times may be added; call 904-824-8874 or check www.fortmenendez.com for updated information.

“This is an exciting opportunity,” Chuck Ponce, curator of Old Florida Museum said.  “These songs speak to the child in all of us, and we can’t wait to have all of the First Coast come to enjoy themselves.  People are literally dancing in the aisles during the shows, it’s a blast!”

Myles Savage, for years a fixture at the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. has a pedigree as rich as any in the world of rock ‘n’ roll and doo-wop.  Now, he—and the Stars from the Drifters, the Coasters and the Platters—have taken up residence at the brand new facilities at Fort Menendez at Old Florida Museum.

Savage says that, while their shows tend to draw primarily an older crowd, the younger audiences will find something to appreciate as well.

“Young people love the music too,” he said. “We have the old style routines and choreography….. none of the hip hop stuff. It’s the old Las Vegas flair. Younger people call it “old school,” but they can see that their parents and grandparents are hip and cool people.”
